Welfare Patrol Teams

We are proud to say we are in partnership with Network Rail and the Train Operating Companies (TOC’s) such as Southeastern Rail and Southern Rail to introduce a new role of Land Sheriffs Welfare Officer.

The main duties include highlighting and assisting with any with concern for welfare situations and suicide prevention.

We are currently manning 20 stations across the South East with the aim of increasing this in the very near future.

All our staff have received Managing Suicidal Contact (MSC) training to assist them in engaging with a person in distress in the most professional way. We continue to support our Welfare officers with field training, regular visits from management, Supervisors and our local Mobile Teams while working closely with the Station staff.

Since the deployment of the LS Welfare there has been continued positive feedback from our stakeholders, the public and station staff and a drop in fatality and concern for welfare incidents.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

We would like to praise Omar for being a great station host. He is friendly and helpful and we are very sad that he is a temporary member of staff – he makes the station a much happier place. It is a shame that all staff can not be like him! Thank you

Once again, these chaps were outstanding at TBW today, proactive and engaging with the travelling passengers.

They have all fitted in with the rest of the Staff and are well liked. They have all made a positive contribution to the Station and have proved their worth time and time again.
