Since 2009, Land Sheriffs’ has invested in our carbon offset and sustainability project in the Rift Valley near Nakuru, Kenya.

Land Sheriffs takes a practical approach to carbon offset, leaving aside the debate about precise measurement of offset carbon. We have teamed up with a Church based non-profit community group in Nakuru, dedicated to helping local young unemployed Kenyans. Jobs have been created to plant and care for trees on land in the Rift Valley.

In the region of 6,000 trees have been planted already and are thriving, with a commitment to plant a further 7,200 in the next six years. A diverse selection of native trees are now growing and being nurtured by the former unemployed in an area ravaged by deforestation. Great care has been taken to minimize the negative impact on local farms.

Land Sheriffs continue to donate clothing to charities in Kenya to help support the local children so they have clean clothes to go to school.

Every five hours a girl is born with Rett syndrome, a severe, life long neurological disorder, Land Sheriffs staff also participate in fund raising activities for the charity.

A charity close to the heart of the Land Sheriffs, as a family member of the CEO and MD was diagnosed with the disease in 2015. The charity was pivotal in providing support to the family and is now a key charity partner of Lsnd Sheriffs who participate in various charitable events every year.

We actively help raise money and awareness for this worthy charity.

We support and help raise awareness for the Samaritans, through donations and organising and participating in events throughout the year. A charity that we work with very closely and many people seek the railway as a place to end their lives we seek the support of the Samaritans to help us manage this risk.

To date we have raised and donated over £22,000 to the Samaritans.
